‘McClelland Wide Open’ Installation Proposal
[Brief]
“McClelland in association with Southern Way has established a program of biennial commissions for major outdoor sculptures, known as the Southern Way McClelland Commission. As part of an ongoing program a new sculpture will be commissioned every two years, resulting in 14 commissions over 25 years. This year’s commission will be displayed on the Peninsula Link freeway adjacent to Cranbourne Road on the Langwarrin exit ramp, which is close to McClelland on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. After display for four years on the freeway, this sculpture will be installed at McClelland as part of its permanent collection.” - Southern Way McClelland Commission
[Aim]
Exploring ways in which the form and materiality of public exterior builds can transform a space, making it feel more welcoming and inviting.
In a world where the management of human flows is a growing challenge, and especially in cities that are becoming increasingly densely populated, the broad aim here is to test different techniques that allow for the creation of clear and intuitive pathways, in order to create places that lend themselves better to effective meeting and sharing.
[Location 1: Peninsula Link Freeway]

[Location 2: McClelland Sculpture Park Entrance]
