Triangular Stage
[Context]
Designing an immersive stage often requires the use of high end technology such as LED screens which can be expensive and therefore not available to most artists. Effective and eye catching lighting being crucial to attract attention to an artist’s performance, compromise can’t be made there.
It seems that using a combination of affordable physical design elements with precise lighting tools could offer options to replace expensive screens on some projects.
Layering appears to be the key when working with light, as it allows for different combinations of light control to be imagined in order to produce varied effects, resulting in great adaptability.
[Vision]
Drapes + Light.
At mockup scale, a focus on structure and lighting allows for a simplified design. The self supporting frame reduces steps in the assembly of the stage while the use of translucent paper to add depth to the design is simple and versatile.
At life scale, the frame could be built using readily available tent drapes. The idea for this design is for it to be modular: its shape, size and complexity can be adapted to various locations and requirements.
Control of lighting is key to add even more interest to the design and can be harnessed to create different moods, styles and effects in order to support an artist’s performance.
